Industrial design patent renewal

When is the first renewal due? Is the renewal fees paid yearly or in periods? If in periods, how are they calculated?

Renewal is due before the expiry of the respective period. There is additionally a grace period of further six months.

Generally, the renewals are paid in Mongolia periodically.

The rules on payment period changed in 2021. The renewal fees were paid by three years` period before the Law Reforms. The renewal period is now five years.

The maximum duration of a Mongolian design is fifteen years from the filing date.

The maximum duration was ten years from the filing date before 2021 Patent Law reforms.
